On Sunday, the Free Gaza Movement posted this on its Twitter Feed: “Zionists operated the concentration camps and helped murder millions of innocent Jews” with a link to a disgusting video. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a hero of the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa, has lent his name as an endorser of this odious organization. Walter Russell Mead writes, and we agree, that everything Tutu claims to have fought for in his life – as well as basic decency – requires him to apologize and distance himself from Free Gaza.

I went to a church convention over a decade ago and he was a special speaker for a large denomination, that I will not mention. I thought he seemed out of touch back then and apparently nothing has changed. I didn’t agree with his ideas at all.

Tutu is an old communist archbishop or otherwise his theology isn’t far removed from Wrights. South Africa has suffered as many degradations because of the tone of communism in the country and still needs reforms. It is no surprise he is critical of Israel and embraces Jihadi elements that characterize themseleves as rebels and activists.

The Free Gaza Movement needs to review the history of WWII on this subject. Their “fact” are just plain wrong. Desmond Tutu also needs to do the same and both need to apologize to Israel and to Jews everywhere. His ideas in this regard are just plain erroneous- he should distance himself from the Free Gaza Group.
