Chuck Freilich, a former Israeli national security adviser, describes the internal workings of Israeli security decision-making and says that the structure of the Netanyahu cabinet is designed to expedite a strike on Iran.
Due to the severity of the threat, most Israeli politicians and former officials have been careful to keep debate over the Iranian nuclear program — unlike debate over most major national security issues in Israel — largely free of partisan politics. Even those who have expressed the strongest opposition to a strike, such as former Mossad chief Meir Dagan, former Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin, President Shimon Peres, and less explicitly, former Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi, have focused their criticism on the merits of the issue and, with few exceptions, have refrained from partisan point-scoring.

My heart if filled with compassion for Israel and the troubled times they face. I feel shamed of the treatment received by their leader by Obama! Unfortunately Israel will continue to struggle, but God will eventually fight their battles and reclaim them as His Covenant people! As a Christian (Mormon) I am so sad to see the Obama’s lack of support for Israel and would so like to see Romney who strongly supports Israel lead the USA. I was truly ashamed of Obama’s recent handling of the attacks on USA embassies and Consulates etc. I do not understand the reason that Koch, and Lieberman and the prodominate Jewish vote in the USA seem to support Obama who has shown such lack of support for Israel and serious leadership about the Iran threat. I know that there will be no question of USA supoprt of Israel when Romney is elected, none at all!
