The U.N. is currently holding an Arms Trade Treaty conference in New York aimed at forging a new agreement that will regulate the transfer of conventional weapons from one country to the next. And who has been elected to the highest post to head the conference?
Iran, of course.
Speaking to reporters about Iran’s selection, Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, protested:
Right after a UN Security Council report found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to Syria, which is now murdering thousands of its own people, it defies logic, morality and common sense for the UN to now elect this same regime to a global post in the regulation of arms transfers.
No doubt that Neuer’s objection will fall on deaf ears, since this type of madness is customary at the U.N. In 2010, the U.N. elected Iran to its Commission on the Status of Women. That is, the U.N. awarded the country – where honor killings are common, women are considered inferior to men under the law, and women are subject to harsh punishment for dressing immodestly –a seat on a commission whose stated mission is to promote women’s rights.
If we follow the U.N.’s logic – or illogic – it makes perfect sense to have Iran heading a conference on the regulation of arms trade. As Hillel Neuer put it, “It’s like choosing Bernie Madoff to police fraud on the stock market.”

This just shows the farse of the UN, first syria to the human rights now Iran to the arms trade. This just shows how insane the UN is and why the Western countrys and also Asian countrys need to just leave the UN. Let it be a third world nation body of uselessness. Actually that’s what it is now.
