Jonathan Pollard, an Israeli agent who has served 26 years of a life sentence for espionage charges against the U.S., was rushed to the hospital this morning for health complications. The U.S. Navy engineer, convicted of passing classified U.S. miliary information, has suffered from failing health for the past few years.

Today, Times of Israel reports:

Jonathan Pollard was rushed from his prison cell to the hospital after feeling ill on Friday afternoon. He was evacuated to a North Carolina hospital.

Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yona Metzger subsequently called on Jews in Israel and abroad to read psalms in Pollard’s honor, according to a Ynet News report. The report added that President Shimon Peres urged Israelis to pray for Pollard’s swift recovery.
