The Pew Research Center has this excellent polling memo about American attitudes on a number of foreign policy issues and the candidates’ stances on them. Of special note are the numbers on Iran, the Arab Spring, and opinions of U.S. policy vis-à-vis Israel.

Many in U.S. remain oblivious to world affairs and foreign-policy. It is the fault of our educational system. These issues need to be discussed more not masked for benefit of future generations.

Israel indeed is His chosen people.. He will destroy any nation which does harm in any manner to the Jewish nation and will doom the USA to utter annihilation if we don’t support Jews!

I can see a correlary between the apocalyptic writings I read and the current conditions in the Middle East. People in the poll are correct in understanding that the political changes there will affect us badly but probably for the wrong reasons. The right reason is that deeply entrenched cultural values will always prevail, no matter how degradng they may be. And those values are the most belligerently defended by the people who suffer from them the most–women and children.

The majority of Americans seem to be totally indifferent to Foreign Policy. People are so bogged down with “our little corner of the world” and the economy that we no longer see the “big picture”. If Iran goes nuclear, our problems won’t matter anymore.
