Forty-five years ago, Zion Karasanti, Yitzhak Yifat, and Haim Oshri were twenty-somethings serving Israel in an IDF paratrooper unit. Then, during a courageous battle to regain the Western Wall in the 1967 Six-Day War, photographer David Rubinger approached them and snapped what would become the Jerusalem Day shot seen ’round the world.
We used it on our blog last week, and countless other blogs, news pages, and Israel-related websites did the same.
Recently the IDF Blog caught up with Zion, Yitzhak, and Haim, and asked them to share their memories of that amazing day in 1967. Check out the article here.
