Photo Friday welcomes the High Holy Days

A Jewish man at the Western Wall sounds the shofar to mark the beginning of Rosh Hashanah

At sundown this past Wednesday night, Jews worldwide began their observance of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This sacred day ushers in the High Holy Days, which conclude with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, on October 8.

Here a Jewish man from Nigeria sounds the shofar (ram’s horn) at the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. A total of 100 notes are sounded on Rosh Hashanah, marking this most sacred of the Jewish holy seasons.

Shana tova (happy New Year), friends!

I am longing to hear the shofar blown. Hear in America you don’t get to hear it. Unless you are in a church or synagogue. I would love to see a YouTube posting of a live event of the shofar being blown!! Please?

Rabbi's Commentary
What a Blessing

One of the things I give thanks for every day is the continued and faithful support for Israel and the Jewish people shown by you, The Fellowship’s friends and supporters. I want to share with you just a few words of thanks from those you have helped, so you can see what a blessing you are for each one of them.
