As we noted a few days ago, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) has treated Israel with contempt in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics by refusing to acknowledge that Jerusalem is the capital of the Jewish state and by posting unflattering pictures as symbols of the country.
Now, it appears the BBC has changed the pictures on Israel’s Olympic page. But they still haven’t figured out that Jerusalem is the capital city. While the Israeli Foreign Ministry calls this a “small victory,” I would suggest it’s nothing to get excited about. When a government agency has to demand that a news agency – whose job is to report rather than make the news – treat its country in the same manner as other countries (for example, the Syrian page has pictures of smiling children even as their government butchers civilians by the hundreds), it’s safe to say that the only winners are those who promote a false, anti-Israel narrative about the Middle East.
