The U.N. Vote

Legendary Israeli diplomat Abba Eban – who served as Israeli ambassador to the U.N. in the ‘40s and ‘50s and, later, as Foreign Minister – famously described the United Nations this way:

“If Algeria introduced a resolution declaring that the earth was flat and that Israel had flattened it, it would pass by a vote of 164 to 13 with 26 abstentions.”

Turns out he was too optimistic.

Yesterday, the U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution upgrading “Palestine” to the status of a non-member state by a vote of 138-9 with 41 abstentions. Palestine now becomes the only recognized U.N. state with no defined borders and two different governing authorities.

Incidentally, this year alone, the U.N. General Assembly considered 21 resolutions singling out Israel for criticism in one form or another and only 4…FOUR!…for the rest of the world combined.

Below is the breakdown of the Palestinian statehood vote. If you’re looking to take a vacation, you might want to choose a destination from the “no” or, at least, the “abstain” list. And if, like my family, you scratch off a country from your vacation plans due to this vote, you should write to them and let them know that they missed out on your tourism dollars and why.

No: Canada, Czech Republic, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Panama, and United States of America.

Abstain: Albania, Andorra, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Colombia, Croatia, DR Congo, Estonia, Fiji, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malawi, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, South Korea, Moldova, Romania, Rwanda, Samoa, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, fYR Macedonia, Togo, Tonga, United Kingdom, Vanuatu.

Yes: Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, China, Comoros, Congo, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Cyprus, North Korea, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lao, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Viet Nam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Abstent: Equatorial Guinea, Kiribati, Liberia, Madagascar, Ukraine.

To those of us who know the Truth, this sham of a vote for Palestine to be recognized as a “non-member” state shouldn’t come as a surprise. It does prove that the UN is as blind and naive as the countries who agreed with them. We have to be content to know that victory is secure, although there’s a lot of heartache and war ahead. We just have to keep praying for our brothers & sisters in Israel.

I have to keep reminding myself of this. God will have the final say when it comes to Israel. He’s already spoken pretty clearly: “I will bless those who bless Israel, and I will curse those who curse Israel.”

This is totally unacceptable from the countries that voted “yes”… Although, the United Nations about being worthless…it is the U.N. Security Council that really has any affect, and that is where Israel should put her focus for friendship. Do not worry because the countries that abstained from voting was neither a yes or a no which is much better than a “yes”. The United States and Canada voting “no” is great being the fact Canada is the seconf largest country in the world and the United States the third largest.

    Peace to Israel

It is a shame we all must bear that only 4 resolutions were passed criticizing anyone other than Israel. What is happening in the UN in many areas is down right dispectable! We must pray like we never have before for our entire world to come to the knowledge of the Saving Grace of our God!

The Bible must be fulfilled. Israel and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ must recognize that the stage is being set for the Anti-Christ to make his appearance disguised as a great man of peace.
But Israel my beloved, you are not alone. You have never been alone even when you felt alone. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will never leave you. Let all Israel return to the Lord. God bless you Israel.

sorry. don’t become discouraged. many people have been against God and Israel, but God has always survived them. Remember that the rebuilding of Jerusalem in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah took many years of continual harrassment and plots of every kind, but God kept them alive in famine and prospered them with wisdom. Please continue to thrive in Eretz Yisrael. God be with you.

I guess alqaeda will get their membership next as strapping bombs on people and killing civilians is okay with U.N. It was a vote against Israel as we know Palestinians goal is to attack Israeli’s and kill all of them which is why they moved to the region as part of their traditional Arab campaign of genocide. How long before they get to import goods without regulation which will set up Israel for an attack with potentially chemical, nuclear and at least conventional weapons in terrorist acts. What does the bible say; I will gather the world at the place called Meggido… Abstaining is vote for Palestine and lame.

This looks like the first step toward a unified takeover of Jerusalem. First you back a bunch of palestinian terrorists with the U.N. vote. Now as they continue to keep firing their missiles into Israel and should Israel respond to their unprovoked attack, the palestinians can go crying to the U.N. and then sanctions can be brought against Israel for violating a “sovereign” nation’s rights. Eventually the U.N. will attempt to broker peace by making it mandatory for the city of Jerusalem to be governed by palestinian terrorists. palestinians… the same people who cheered in the streets the day our Twin Towers came down… God bless Israel.

I think it is very wrong and irresponsible for the un to vote on making palestine a state of their own. This is Israel’s land, give it back to them.
