Michael Koplow, writing at his blog Ottomans and Zionists, points out that Turkish leaders – who only recently attacked in Syria due to provocative actions on the part of Bashar al-Assad’s military – just can’t help themselves when it comes to trashing the Jewish state. Even when (as in this case) it runs counter to Turkish national interests.
Turkey wants to see Assad gone and has been trying for over a year to organize a U.S. or NATO-led attack on Syria in the form of a no-fly zone and furthermore has deployed Patriot missile batteries along its border with Syria in recognition of the military threat that exists, but it also is going to defend its friend Bashar from Israeli aggression and will not abide an attack on Syria and doesn’t really see why Israel has anything to worry about when it comes to Syrian military threats.

Interestingly, Turkey was close to Israel until ‘moderate Islamist’ Erdogan gained power. They used to hold joint air force exercises. Now Erdogan uses every excuse to criticise Israel? And Israel?…

Oil,Turkey was a “friend” to Israel until Russia invaded Georgia and put the kibosh on the Ashkelon oil pipeline. Now Russia is working with Turkey to provide its oil needs. Cypress didn’t help.

I don’t get it. How can Turkey call itself a NATO ally & call for decisive military intervention where Syria is concerned and yet trash Israel for their actions. The hypocracy is astounding. I know this will continue with more & more countries as the days are darker & the return of Jesus is so very near but it hurts my spirit to see Israel & the Jews treated so poorly. Thank you Father that you love Israel and will protect her gates against all oppressors.
